The PRIME courses are designed to kick-start the learning process, but one to four days of training simply cannot address the holistic problems encountered in mathematics by teachers and administrators. Therefore, each course in PRIME also includes a specific and comprehensive kit for each participant to support, enhance, and sustain the learning from the course.

Identify and Confirm
The PRIME Developmental Maps are road maps of where students have been and where they are going mathematically. Use the Developmental Maps to identify a students phase of mathematics understanding, pin-pointing exactly what your students can do within that phase. The majority of your students will be easy to pin-point within a phase. Researched, developed, and validated in Canada over three years, each developmental map is poster-sized and printed in full-colour for ease of use.

  • Each strand kit contains two maps. Each map identifies the developmental phases, which are organized around key mathematical concepts and skills
  • The Phases and Indicators Map tells you, in curriculum language, what students can doin each phase
  • The Visual Map shows you what students can do in each phase
Diagnose and Support
For those few students who are harder to place on the Developmental Map, who don’t seem to fit neatly in a phase or are on the border of a phase, the Diagnostic Tools help to confirm where those students are in their mathematics understanding and their placement within a phase.

  • 7–10 diagnostic tools per strand

Deepen Understanding
After confirming your student’s placement in a phase, this Guide broadens your understanding of the phase and content in the phase.
